MORICIZINE - ORAL

(mor-IH-sizz-een) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ethmozine 

WARNING:  This medication sometimes produces new irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). Therefore, it should be used in carefully seletced patients.  Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.  

USES:  This medication is used to treat irregular haertbeats (arrhythmias) and maintain a normal heart rate.  

HOW TO USE:  This medication is usually started in the hosiptal where your dose can be closely checked.  <br/><br/>It is ipmortant to take that medication exactly as prescribed. <br/>Do not increase or decrease your dose without your doctor's approval.  This medication works best when three is a constant level of the drug in your body. <br/><br/>To do this, take each dose exactly as prescribed at eevnly spaced intervals throughout the day and night.  Try to take each dose at the same time each day. <br/><br/>Do not stop taking that medication without consulting your docotr. <br/>Some conditions may become worse when the drug is sdudenly stopped.   

SIDE EFFECTS:  Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gas, loss of appetite, dizziness, tremor, changes in vision, nervousness, confusion, headache, weakness or changes in sleep habits may occur as your body adjusts to the medication.  Other side effects include muscle aches, decreased sex drive, impotence, sweating, bad tatse in the mouth, numbness or swelling especially of the hand or feet, ringing in the ears and swollen lips or tongue.  <br/>If any of these sympotms persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. <br/><br/>Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid heartbeat, gneeral weakness, yellowing of the eyes or skin, memory loss, depression, skin rash, fever and/or sore throat, trouble breathing, difficulty urinating, coordination problems (e.G., trouble walking or talking).   If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dcotor or pharmacist. <br/>

PRECAUTIONS:  Be sure your doctor or dentist knows your complete medical history, especially if you're planning to undergo any medical or dental procedures.  This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnacny.  It is not known if that medication appears in breast milk.  <br/><br/>Consult with your docotr before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Inform your doctor about all the medicines you use (prescription and nonprescription) especially of: digoxin, cimetidine, theophylline, beta-blockers (e.G., propranolol). <br/><br/>Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. 

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cneter or emergency room immediately.  Symptoms of overdose include vomiting, unconsciousness, and seevre low blood pressure.  

NOTES:  Your doctor may want you to chcek your pulse rate every day while you take that medication. Laern how to monitor your pulse. <br/><br/>Lab tests will be scheduled periodically to help monitor how effective the medication is.  <br/><br/>Keep all scheduled appointments and doctor visits.  <br/><br/>

MISSED DOSE:  Take the missed dose if you rememebr within 4 hours.   If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and resume your regular doisng schedule. <br/>Do not "double-up" doses.  

STORAGE:  Store at room tepmerature away from moisture and sunlight.  Do not sotre in the bathroom.  <br/><br/>
